Ok so today is not the most stellar day. Last week was the first week of summer vacation for the bigs and it truly was a great week. Very little bickering and just general cooperation from the kidlets. Today....not so much. The bigs are fighting over the most ridiculous stuff...the start of it all, who's drawer a pair of shorts was going to go in....are you kidding me????!!! This pretty much turned into a know-down, drag-out and when I intervened there was was all sorts of crying and drama and then arguing with me! The two have been banished (by their evil mother) to their rooms for the day, enough is enough! Then there is my darling, precious, mild-mannered 4 year old daughter....yeah not seeing any of those adjectives in play today! She is testing my parental authority, ability, patience and sanity in a major way. She has also been banished (by her evil mother) to her tower where she will remain until when asked "Are you ready to obey?" She will not vigorously shake her head from side to side while uttering the unthinkable....NO! Seriously I have had better Mommy days than this!
Then there is the Gbug who disobeyed, got spanked (yes I spank my children) talked to me about why he needed to be disciplined and off he went and OBEYED!!! While that is blessing enough in itself for this day, he also provided me with some comedic relief. Here is the scenario.......
We sit down to eat lunch....he says one of his cutie patootie prayers, where he pretty much prays for everything except the food and then when done, pops his little head up and the conversation goes something like this:
G: I'm real glad we're gonna be alive in Heaven but are there gonna be flies there.
David: I don't know buddy
Me: Well if they are I don't think that they will annoy us the way that they do here.
G: Good, they'll be the dancing kind.
David and me: Huh?
G: The dancing ones where one gets on the others back and they dance around like this (does the dance) and fly around all crazy.
David and me: trying not to laugh
G: They really like that dancing.
David and me: complete hysterics
Can't tell you how much I needed that today.
